How Clear Aligner Treatment Works: Everyday Tips

Clear aligner treatment is an orthodontic method that gradually aligns teeth with removable transparent trays instead of wires and brackets.

How does it work?

Your mouth is measured or digitally scanned. Your dentist plans the target position of your teeth and a series of trays is prepared. Each tray applies gentle force to move the teeth in the planned direction.

Everyday tips

  • Wear the trays for the hours your dentist recommends.
  • Remove them when eating, and before drinking anything other than water.
  • Brush your teeth before putting the trays back in.
  • Clean the trays with lukewarm (not hot) water and a soft brush.
  • Always keep them in their case when they are out of your mouth.

Regular check-ups

You need to visit your dentist at regular intervals during treatment so that the fit of the trays and the movement of the teeth can be assessed.

Is it suitable for everyone?

Clear aligners may be suitable for many mild to moderate alignment problems, but they are not the right choice for every case. The suitable method is decided by your dentist after an examination.
