What to Expect at Your First Visit

What to know before your first examination and how the visit works.

The first visit is set aside to get to know you and assess the current state of your oral health. The steps below describe a general flow; details may vary from person to person.

Before your visit

  • Make a note of the medications you take, known allergies and past illnesses.
  • Bring any previous X-rays or treatment records you may have.
  • Think about when your complaint started and what makes it worse; it helps to tell your dentist.
  • Bring an ID document.

What happens at the examination?

  • A short conversation about your health and complaints.
  • Your teeth, gums and jaw joints are examined.
  • X-rays or other imaging may be requested if needed.
  • Findings are shared with you and the options are explained.

Treatment plan

After the examination your dentist explains the recommended treatments, their stages and estimated durations. The decision is yours; feel free to ask questions. You can get information about fees and payment terms from our team during or before your appointment.

If you cannot attend

Please let us know as early as possible so the slot can be offered to another patient.
