Lingual Orthodontics

Lingual orthodontics is an orthodontic method in which the brackets are placed on the inner (tongue-side) surface of the teeth rather than the outer surface, so they are not visible from the front.

Who may be suitable?

  • Adults who prefer that braces are not visible during treatment
  • Those with a suitable tooth structure (assessed by the dentist)

How does the process work?

  • Suitability is assessed through an examination and measurements.
  • Brackets are bonded to the inner surface of the teeth.
  • There may be an adjustment period for the tongue at first; treatment continues with check-ups.
  • A retainer is fitted at the end of treatment.

After treatment and care

The inner surfaces need careful cleaning; use the brushes and interdental tools your dentist recommends. Speech may change temporarily and you usually get used to it over time.

The information on this page is for general purposes only; an examination is required for diagnosis and treatment. Treatment plans are determined by the dentist according to each patient's condition.
